Category:  Sales, Marketing and Publishing

Job Title: Data Insight Manager

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £33,000 - £37,395

Location: Gateshead office or remote working with agreed times at Gateshead office

Providing insight to informed decisions

CEM: Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring, part of the Cambridge family, is a vibrant organisation which has established a reputation for innovation and quality in educational assessment and research. We work with schools, colleges, education authorities, government agencies and other organisations to provide high quality information through scientifically grounded research.

Part of Cambridge Assessment and Cambridge University Press, CEM helps teachers turn data into knowledge, bridging the gap between research and practice, and providing evidence to support good decision-making.

We are seeking a talented individual to undertake the role of Data Insight Manager.  This role will be fundamental in CEM better understanding its customer and prospect base, and how market data can inform the decisions we make.

Inspired by Teachers and Informed by Evidence.  Your work will make a difference.

At these current times our people are home based, but we look forward to moving into our vibrant new office at Gateshead Quay opposite the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art.  We are however open to applications from candidates based outside of the North East – you will just need to be committed to travelling to the office when required.

Data set up and maintenance

As Data Insight Manager, you will create reports that show end to end tracking of marketing and sales activities, as well as campaign monitoring dashboards.  You’ll be identifying where improvements may be found and spotting creative ways to pool multiple datasets from disparate systems, understanding how RoI can be improved.

Data Analysis

Using your skills in data analysis you will provide weekly marketing activity reports mapped to sales progress, as well as monthly senior leadership and board-level reporting. By understanding the key marketing, sales cycles and data reports from other Cambridge Business Units, you will have a full picture of performance.

Working very closely with marketing teams, both in CEM and within other Cambridge Business Units you will form excellent working relationships with the sales team at CEM, enabling them to have visibility of marketing data to inform their own decisions.  Also working with systems architects to seek greater efficiencies and adoption of data, you will understand client and prospective client perspectives.

As a customer champion you will understand the competitor landscape and advise on trends. You will plan and conduct research on key themes within education and CEM, and conduct customer listening exercises, covering areas such as brand perception, product insights and reasons to buy from CEM.

What we’re looking for

Engaging, empathetic and diplomatic, you will have the ability to see the bigger picture and understand how this role fits within many departments. With greatly developed analytical skills and the ability to see data trends, anomalies and ways to improve data congruency, you will have experience in interacting with prospects and clients and extrapolating key information in an engaging way. You’ll be resilient with the ability to maintain motivation whilst working alone, as well as a natural collaborator to provide the support CEM needs to make informed decisions.

We are interested in hearing from you if you meet most or all of the following:

  • Either be qualified to degree level or with equivalent experience
  • Highly IT literate with sales and marketing software and typical data sets
  • Experience to intermediate or advanced level with PowerBI and Microsoft Flow
  • Experience creating and monitoring dashboards
  • Experience using CRMs such as Salesforce, SAP Hana, DS365, etc.
  • Experience with Google Analytics and Google Data Studio would be advantageous but not essential
