What it’s about 

This is an exciting opportunity for a Power BI specialist to use their skills to implement appropriate tools and techniques to transform operational data into user reports, which can be analysed by the business to assist in decision-making. This will also be an opportunity to mentor existing Power BI users and develop best practice for long term stability. 



What you’ll be doing 

This role encompasses a range of tasks and responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for the timely delivery and accuracy of core operational reports related to Cambridge English Qualifications exam processing 

  • Ensure clear, simplified, standardised and consistent presentation of dashboards 

  • Develop and document the infrastructure to access the Cambridge Assessment Data Warehouse to ensure Power BI users can access the data in a structured way 

  • Review the existing suite of Power BI reports and ensure that they adhere to best practice data architecture 

  • Identify any data inconsistencies and work with our Business Technology Services to correct these to ensure the robustness of the data 

  • Mentor existing Power BI users to develop best practice and long-term skills 

  • Assist in developing the future strategy and key objectives for the team and supporting colleagues with its implementation 



What we’re looking for 

The successful candidate should have demonstrable experience of developing Power BI reports, with strong SQL skills and experience of interrogating data warehouses. Excellent interpersonal skills and experience of mentoring colleagues are also important. 



  • Educated to degree level or be able to demonstrate relevant experience 

  • Expert knowledge of Power BI features such as DAX and Power Query 

  • Strong SQL skills 

  • Experience in data warehouse functionality and integration  

  • Ability to analyse and work with relational data 

  • A demonstrable understanding of best practice data architecture 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills working with colleagues at all levels both internally and externally 

  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills 

  • Ability to act as a mentor to colleagues 

  • Ability to prioritise and time-manage projects according to tight deadlines 



  • Ability to think strategically 

  • Experience of Hadoop Data Lakes 

  • Ability to create and maintain relevant documentation and user guides 

  • Ability to challenge data to ensure accuracy and integrity of reports 

  • Experience in statistical analysis
