What it’s about

 

Cambridge Assessment International Education are seeking an experienced Senior Programme Manager to work with Senior Leaders to plan, design and manage large-scale programmes from the initiation stage through to implementation. This role will also manage three Project Managers and be responsible for the quality of the projects they are delivering.

 

This role requires an in-depth understanding of programme management methodologies and practice, and a thorough knowledge of how to deliver change to institutional and individual customers on an international scale.

 

What you’ll be doing

 

Core Accountabilities

 

  • To conceptualise and deliver Cambridge International’s strategy, focusing on Programme and Project delivery across the business and to customers, ensuring that development in these areas adds significant and lasting value to our business.

 

  • To lead and implement the Programmes and Projects to deliver the Cambridge International Strategy and lead corresponding business transformation in a way which builds customer loyalty and a continued desire to do business with Cambridge International.

 

  • To lead and develop a team of staff focused on delivering major business change programmes, ensuring developments are delivered in a way that takes the business forward and maintains Cambridge International’s competitiveness.

 

  • To ensure Programmes are managed according to best practice principles – e.g. appropriate governance is in place, required documentation is produced, the business case supports the Business Plan, and budgets are effectively developed and monitored etc.

 

  • Build a network of contacts at all levels throughout IT and Cambridge International to increase the value of IT investments, operating professionally and with sensitivity to the needs of departments and individuals and ensuring effective collaboration with internal and external technology providers.

 

  • Provide business consultancy services to Cambridge International in order to help enable the Business Stream define their objectives, and take a leading role in re-engineering and designing processes to maximise the capability from current and future business process and IT technologies.

 

  • To contribute to the development of a Programme and Project Management community in order to align working practices, realise synergies and identify new development opportunities.

 

  • To be a source of expertise and have significant practical experience of analysis, process design and re-engineering, management consultancy and IT-enabled change.  Provide support, guidance and mentoring to other team members.

 

What we’re looking for

 

We are looking for a Senior Programme Manager to independently manage and deliver programmes to agreed scope and to scheduled cost and quality. You will be responsible for motivating and providing leadership for programme teams working with senior stakeholders to ensure the objectives of Cambridge International are delivered.

 

To be considered for this position of Senior Programme Manager it is essential for candidates to have proven experience in managing complex projects and programmes and have excellent leadership skills.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Educated to degree level with an appropriate Masters qualification preferred (preferably MBA) or equivalent experience.

 

  • MSP or PRINCE2 (or other project management) qualification highly desirable.

 

Experience

 

  • Detailed domain knowledge essential (complex interdependent change programmes involving both process and technologies etc.)

 

  • A thorough understanding of the opportunities offered by a diverse range of technologies

 

  • Detailed knowledge of principles of project and programme management, working in both agile and waterfall delivery teams

 

  • Working knowledge of Cambridge International’s product range, administrative, management information and delivery systems

 

  • Understanding of Cambridge International’s marketplace and stakeholders

 

  • Appreciation of IT development practices and methodologies

 

  • Substantial experience of managing complex business change programmes of work
