Salary: £37,600 to £45,000 

 

What it’s about

The Project/ Programme Management Office (PMO) for Cambridge Assessment International Education is looking for a maternity cover for the role of PMO manager, for 10 months from December 2019 to September 2020. This includes a handover period to help the successful candidate step into the role. Our PMO is part of Cambridge International’s Transformation Team.

 

The PMO manager is responsible for developing, establishing and maintaining governance arrangements for the delivery of projects and/or programmes to the Cambridge International Change Board. The PMO was created two years ago, so the role blends in the management of established processes, with opportunities to deliver continuous improvement and to collaborate with other PMOs within Cambridge Assessment to establish best practice for project and change management across the group. This is a great opportunity to support the wider Cambridge International Transformation team, who manage strategic alignment, project and change delivery, as well as business testing and quality assurance in Cambridge International.

 

What you’ll be doing

 

1) Governance
Develop, establish and maintain governance arrangements for the delivery of projects and/or programmes to the Cambridge International Change Board. Support projects, programmes and other initiatives to ensure consistent and systematic approach to delivery across the project portfolio. Provide expert guidance and support in the application of PMO templates, methods and best practice. Establish and manage reviews at appropriate points during and after projects and/or programmes to ensure adherence to governance processes and standards. Support the alignment of business and technology projects to Cambridge International’s strategy.

2) Reporting
Ensure timely and accurate project and programme tracking information is collected. Provide cross project oversight of costs and resourcing requirements, identification of project / programme dependencies, key risks and highlight potential issues and conflicts. Analyse and interpret data to present outputs in an engaging and easily digestible format. Support the monitoring of benefits realisation for Cambridge International’s strategy.


Co-ordinate material for the Cambridge international Change Board and other meetings as required. Support the Deputy Director, Transformation in analysing and reporting on project and programme performance and formulating recommendations for the Cambridge International Change Board. Administer meetings, manage submissions, manage agendas and actions.

3) Team support
Train new and existing Project Managers in the Project templates and systems, disseminate changes throughout the Cambridge International PM community. Provide ongoing support to the project delivery team(s) in applying the governance framework, using the PMO templates and systems. Promote the development of knowledge and skills within the project management community.


Provide support to the wider Transformation Team with coordination of team activities.

 

What we’re looking for

We are looking for someone who will adapt quickly into the role, learning the existing processes and tools to ensure consistency of service from the PMO. The successful candidate will also show an ability to propose and deliver improvements within the PMO and the Transformation Team, to communicate clearly and present to a variety of audiences, and to collaborate across functions and across the Group. Given the importance of running and developing PMO reporting on the portfolio, the candidate will require solid skills using Excel, SharePoint, and MS Project, and more generally be comfortable using the Office 365 suite.

 

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Professional qualification in Project Management (e.g. PRINCE2) highly desirable but not essential

Experience

  • Previous experience creating and/or managing a PMO function
  • Previous experience in managing projects and programmes
  • Knowledge of the context in which Cambridge International operates
  • Experience of analysing and interpreting data and presenting this in an engaging and easily digestible format
