What it’s about


We are looking to appoint a dynamic individual as Head of Product Lifecycle. This is your opportunity to put your experience and expertise into practice - managing our world-class products by leading the development, launches and withdrawals within Cambridge Assessment English.  Reporting to the Director of Business and Marketing, you’ll be working closely with other departments to lead on a transformational programme to embed a process  driven approach to product management across Cambridge Assessment English to ensure the effective management and development of their respective product portfolios, focusing on a strategic and commercial approach.

In a very real sense, you’ll be a key driver in shaping our future, working closely with our Assessment, Digital and Technological teams to develop fresh assessment capabilities to create competitive products - making a major contribution to the development of our strategy and policy.


What you’ll be doing

  • Lead a programme of change across Cambridge Assessment English to embed a process and supporting working practices for product management.
  • Work closely with the Heads of Schools and Higher Education to ensure effective management and development of their respective product portfolios to maximise competiveness and profitability. To ensure a common approach to managing strategy and commercial as well as providing comprehensive support to Global network sales teams.
  • Work with our IT and Assessment departments to ensure we are developing the capabilities which underpin and enable the development of new competitive winning products.
  • To work with Operations and Finance as well as Heads of Sector to develop a practical approach to managing the Profit and Loss of products.
  • To develop and maintain the tools, documentation and Working Groups required for the smooth running of the product management process.
  • As part of the Business & Marketing Senior Management team, make a major contribution to the development of overall strategy and policy, deputising for the Director as required.


What we’re looking for

You’ll be a confident communicator and keen innovator, comfortable with change and naturally motivated to collaborate with colleagues at all levels. A deep understanding of business and product development on a global scale, with proven experience of implementing new initiatives and change programmes, completes the picture.


The successful candidate will:

  • Be educated to degree level, preferably with a postgraduate qualification in business or marketing;
  • Have a proven track record of successful product development and management;
  • Have experience of implementing change within a matrix business setting
  • Have strong project management skills;
  • Have strong management, organisational and negotiation skills;
  • Have proven leadership skills;
  • Knowledge of assessment in an educational context and Cambridge Assessment English products.
  • Be highly collaborative – able to work effectively with and influence a range of people  within Cambridge Assessment English.
