What it’s about

We're looking for three Developers working at mid-level up to senior to join our team developing enterprise strength applications used in the development and processing of assessments. This is a great opportunity to get involved with exciting enterprise projects and to join a team with a clear, structured career path.

 

What you’ll be doing

  • Working as a member of the development team to deliver solutions to the required standards.
  • Understand current systems and their capabilities so that you can confidently develop areas that are needed for the business.
  • Deliver developments iteratively creating documentation, tests, prototypes and demos as appropriate and as required.

 

What we’re looking for

You will have a background in enterprise Java application development you should be comfortable working on both the front and backend of an application.

We are looking for someone who is educated to degree-level or equivalent and has worked on the enterprise application delivered using web technologies.

 

The successful candidate must have:

  • A good academic background (BSc or equivalent) in a computer science, engineering or in a related field or equivalent experience.  
  • Object Orientated (OO) Design experience
  • Appreciation for several design patterns
  • Knowledge of designing distributed systems
  • Knowledge of designing concurrent systems
  • Must have excellent core Java development skills

 

The successful candidate would ideally have:

  • Knowledge of programming language:  Javascript with JQuery.
  • Knowledge of one or more development frameworks (Spring 4, Hibernate 4, FreeMaker, MS SSRS Reporting)
  • Knowledge of web application servers and their administration (Tomcat )
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS
  • Knowledge of working with a large scale RESTful web services and multiple database systems.
  • Able to work independently, possesses a flexible attitude and good communication skills.
  • Excellent team skills, motivation to work in a global organization and a heightened sense of ownership.
  • Ability to think outside the box and demonstrate a mind set for continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Experience of the following within a commercial environment would also be desirable:
    1. Agile methodologies
    2. Continuous Integration (TDD and BDD)
  • Experience of alternate server side technologies based on NodeJS, Python would be valuable
