Salary: 32,100 - £43,300

Location: Cambridge

About the department and the role

Are you a data expert who can confidently mine varied and disparate data sources to produce actionable KPI reports and powerful data visualisations?

The Digital and New Product Development team is a recently formed department responsible for Cambridge English’s digital learning, assessment and teaching products. We aim to use the latest emerging digital tech and pedagogies to help the world speak English and prove their skills. We collaborate with a diverse range of experts, companies and academic departments with a dream of creating world leading digital learning and assessment experiences on mobile and the web, touching millions of lives.

We are looking for someone to own and develop the data capture, analysis and visualisation function that will drive our department and our decision making, at both a product development and sales & marketing level.

This role offers considerable scope for the right individual to make it their own and have a direct and demonstrable impact on our operation; within a global organisation focused on transforming its digital capabilities and product range over the next few years.

What you’ll be doing

Providing core data reporting and analysis for our department. This includes:

  • data analysis across multiple channels and product lines. You will develop, evolve and automate a range of formal reports and dashboards, including monthly insights and campaign effectiveness reports, working closely with an external data consultant.
  • designing engaging data visualisations that help tell compelling stories about our success.
  • developing a substantial vector tracking capability to enable sophisticated understanding of user flows within and between products across the department and the wider organisation as appropriate.
  • working closely with marketing colleagues to ensure the latest Google Analytics tools are being used to maximum advantage and to evaluate other third party tracking tools, undertaking initial implementation and set-up of reporting formats and templates.

Playing a key role in the evaluation of new product opportunities and existing product success. You will:

  • work with Product Owners to provide consultancy in the preparation of business cases and KPI setting.
  • work with channel marketing and UX colleagues to advise on the best methods of capturing and interpreting data from user testing in appropriate markets as part of the development process and throughout the product lifecycle.
  • actively promote and champion data capture, management and analysis throughout product lifecycles.

What we’re looking for

  • Solid recent experience in an analytical role, ideally in a marketing, tech or digital product development context
    • highly numerate and analytical
    • excellent visual communicator
    • able to interrogate, interpret and communicate insights effectively from varied data
  • Excellent understanding of digital marketing principles and practice, in particular in relation to data capture, tracking, regulation and manipulation
  • The ability to multi-task and prioritise a heavy workload, along with good planning and organisational skills
  • Advanced level Google Analytics and Power BI
  • Some experience of types of agile and user-centred methodology would be desirable
