What it’s about

We are changing the way we do technology at Cambridge Assessment to increase our business, customer and product-oriented design focus. So we are growing our team of Business Architects.  The Business Architects team plays a key role in helping our organisation to get the greatest value from technology-enabled change as we continue our digital transformation. This is a business architecture discipline practiced with a business-facing, business capability and customer-oriented aspect. It involves a major focus on the current and future status of our core business capabilities, common services, product design elements, and business processes.

Overall, the Business Architect role exists to enable long-term viable business and technology outcomes, helping us to transform the enabling technologies and processes underpinning our Assessment and Learning products and services, and to provide insights about valuable investment in capability requirements. Together, these will help complement our long-term strategic view of organisational direction.

What you’ll be doing

The Business Architect role is accountable for:

  • Consultancy in business architecture, with potential for specialisation in a dedicated area.
  • Short- and long-term focused analyses, as part of exploration and discovery lifecycle phases, to inform planning and investment decisions, for example scope and key requirements, impact, options and longer-term scenarios.
  • Generating capability roadmaps and product requirement mappings to help turn business priorities into investment portfolio and technology roadmaps.
  • Analysing, defining and costing opportunities for simplification, design re-alignment etc., where these will create sustainable business value – in collaboration with technical and business colleagues.
  • Developing roadmaps, customer journeys, service blueprints, value chain analysis, product attributes and capability mapping as part of the design of technology services and business change.
  • Defining business architecture tools, modelling, artefact creation and governance – in team collaboration.
  • Applying current knowledge about digital change, emerging technology, education, learning and assessment industry trends and business-related knowledge.
