What it’s about

 

To lead in the implementation of the digital strategy, managing the development and improvement of a group of digital learning products and providing clear ownership throughout the product lifecycle

 

What you’ll be doing

 

  1. Developing new products for China, in order to create a digital portfolio to meet the changing demands of learners and ambitious growth target of the organization
  2. Ensure iterative, user-centred, and agile approaches are employed as appropriate, leading to products that are tightly focused on customer needs and value
  3. Ensure product development delivers good ROI and is aligned to Regional and departmental strateg
  4. Optimise value created by the Technology Partners / developers, ensuring the features of the product meet the customers’ needs and prioritising a positive user experience / business benefit.
  5. Liaise and work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation on brand awareness:
    • Business Development, Regional and Marketing colleagues as required to support marketing and sales/reach
    • Handing products over to the business post MVP stage, to become BAU
    • For revenue-generating products, seek to maximise the potential for reach and revenue (where appropriate) throughout the product lifecycle.
    • Research and identify possible partners and products for digital learning/Assessment in line with strategic priorities.
    • Prepare proposals for partnerships and products, including the preparation of business cases and KPI setting.
    • Monitor KPIs regularly. Highlight and recommend a course of action for any under-performing products (this may include evaluating the continuation of the product
    • Line management of at least 1 post to support in the Product Owner role
  6. Manage budgets effectively and work creatively to maximize ROI
  7. Effective approaches to teaching and learning
    • Work with subject- expert colleagues to ensure best practice in teaching and learning is applied to new developments
    • Wherever possible, work closely with RTL colleagues to help gather and evaluate data around learning and user behaviour to ensure a continuous and rigorous evaluation for products at all stages of development, including live products.
    • Represent CE at conferences and events as required.
  8. Educational intelligence
    • Identify and disseminate educational research that will be relevant to staff working across the organisation on digital products.

 

What we’re looking for

 

  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent
  • Relevant training/experience in product ownership
  • Relevant training/experience in innovative, user-centred approaches to product development.
  • A proven track-record in the design, development and delivery of digital learning products
  • Excellent understanding of digital programme and project management methodologies
  • Proven ability to enable large, interdependent teams deliver high profile projects
  • Ability to communicate a compelling and strategically sound vision
  • Ability to come up with innovative solutions to problems
  • Excellent communication skills and high level of personal diplomacy
  • Excellent understanding of budgetary control and reporting in a product development context
  • Strong strategic thinker
  • Knowledge of research methodology
  • Highly numerate and analytical; able to, understand and communicate insights effectively from varied data
  • Substantial knowledge/experience of education in a global context.
  • Solid experience of different agile and user-centred methodologies
  • Extensive experience of managing complex projects in a large and complex organisation, including external suppliers
  • Considerable experience of working under pressure to demanding deadlines
  • Extensive experience of managing outsourced creative and technical work
  • Understanding of best practice principles for digital development across multiple devices
  • Media-savvy and knowledgeable about emerging digital / EdTech trends
  • Line-management experience.
  • A professional manner and attitude
  • High levels of personal diplomacy and effectiveness
  • Capable of building strong relationships and developing successful partnerships
